Galway offers a vast range of extracurricular activities from sport, to music and social groups.

The GAA is a volunteer organization. They develop and promote Gaelic Games at the core of Irish identity and culture. They are dedicated to ensuring that the family of games, and the values they live, enrich the lives of their members, families and the communities they serve.


Connacht Rugby is an organisation with a clear purpose to inspire the community through rugby success. They are one of four professional rugby teams in Ireland


Based on a nautical tradition dating back over 100 years, Sea Scouting provides youth people with the opportunity to develop nautical based skills through a fun and young led environment. Youth members plan their own adventures, take charge on the land or on the sea and learn skills that will stand to them for life.


The 1st Galway St. Joseph’s scout troupe is an active outdoor organization that aims to give young people a chance to experience the great outdoors and learn valuable life skills such as teamwork, leadership and self sufficiency through the most enjoyable environment.


Comhaltas Ceoltóirí na hÉireann is the largest group involved in the preservation and promotion of Irish traditional music. They are a non-profit cultural movement with hundreds of local branches around the world.


Renmore Pantomime society’s mission is to foster, encourage and assist theatrical, cultural and artistic activities, primarily in the Renmore Community, but also throughout Galway City and its environs.

The Brazilian Community:

AMBI (Associação de Famílias Brasileiras na Irlanda): is a community group founded in 2010, aiming to support Brazilian citizens living in Ireland, spreading Brazilian cultural heritage and strengthening the relationship between Ireland and Brazil.


The Chinese Community:

Chinese Society: A society for Chinese students and other students interested in Chinese culture. The aim of this society is to encourage interaction between Chinese students and students of other nationalities in NUI Galway.

The focus at Water Safety Ireland is on public awareness and education. By increasing water safety awareness and by changing attitudes and behaviors in the water our aquatic environments can be enjoyed with confidence and safety.


At Swim Ireland they inspire and empower people in Ireland at all ages and abilities to participate in sport and to embrace a healthy lifestyle.


In Galway Hockey Club their aim is to develop a love and enthusiasm for field hockey, sports and fitness in young members, and to promote sportsmanship, competition, and skill in a safe, fun, and nurturing environment.


Basketball Ireland seeks to promote the game, in all its forms, to supporters and prospective supporters by emphasising the great attributes of basketball.


The Mission of the Irish Girl Guides is to enable girls and young women to develop to their fullest potential as responsible citizens of the world.


Galway Language Centre aim to provide the highest quality of language learning and to promote innovation and standard setting in teaching, learning and teacher training.


Galway Community Circus: Giving opportunities to young people to live their best life by supporting their physical, mental and social wellbeing.


Hession School of Irish Dancing: Children are taught in a safe and friendly environment where they are encouraged to have fun, grow their confidence and express themselves all whilst making new friends.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


The Polish Community:

Polish School: Our main goals are to teach the language and culture of Poland, but also for children to learn about and to respect other cultures, languages, races, and religions.

Polish Website: Our website was designed to support Polish people living in Ireland – especially in Galway, by sharing with them (in their native language) information about local areas, news, events, and much more.


The African & Caribbean Communities:

African Caribbean Society: Our aims are to represent a positive image of Africa and the Caribbean. To reveal the identity of the various cultures in both Africa and the Caribbean as well as celebrate the diversity of all our cultures. To embrace histories and be positive ambassadors of our nations. And, most importantly, to develop a community for all nationalities to commune in whilst having tons of fun!


The Japanese Community:

The Ireland Japan Association: Our aim is to foster better understanding and connections between Ireland and Japan.


The Italian Community:

Italiani a Galway is a non-profit and non-commercial community with no political affiliation, which aims at promoting Italian culture in the West of Ireland.

NUIG Italian Soc: Our society promotes the Italian culture and language by hosting a range of fun and exciting events throughout the year.
